Updates: A New Gig, Book 2, Cat Victory
When the world feels on fire, we still need to celebrate the small wins.
Dear FFF,
Today I don’t have any wise words for you, just a few updates from my world.
A new gig 🎉
I’m thrilled to be joining Rogue Women’s Fund as a Venture Partner, working alongside Caroline Lewis, co-founder and Managing Partner, as she finishes deploying Fund II and supports her portfolio companies. Caroline has been a mentor to me; her commitment to investing in women is remarkable. What this means: if you want to pitch a women-led company that fits RWF’s thesis or become an investor yourself, talk to me.Building: Sold! 🏢🥂
For those following the saga of my commercial building, it’s sold! Done! PHEW!!!
A new headshot 📸🔥
Out with the selfies, the spontaneous, the unedited; in with the professional, the touched up, the earned confidence. What do you think?
A cat miracle 🐈⬛
Cider has used the litter box for 20 straight days. Go, Cider! (If you’re confused, you can catch up here and here.) The breakthrough? I finally surrendered to her very clear, very persistent messaging and placed a litter box by the front door.
A book milestone 📚
My second book will be published in September 2027—my 60th birthday month—by the award-winning She Writes Press, led by publishing veteran, writer, professor, memoir coach, fabulous female founder, and mom Brooke Warner. If you’re curious about the publishing world, I highly recommend subscribing to Brooke’s excellent Substack here.
The working title is Minnow in a Shark Tank (or possibly Bonus Baby—opinions welcome). It’s a deep reflection on the choices, ambition, fear, ego, responsibility, and grief that come with creating, growing, leading, and letting go—of companies, of children, and of earlier versions of ourselves—braided through the tortured Citi Bike launch and my unexpected pregnancy at age 45.
Because I’m so immersed in the manuscript—and promised Brooke a draft by mid-February—I’m taking a short break from FFF to focus.
I’ll be back in a few weeks. Try not to miss me too much. 😉
~ Mia

A huge congratulations on selling your building! A VERY long journey. And, double thumbs up on your new photo. Love it!
Woohoo, Mia - excited for this next chapter for you!
